Ootd ~ Bitter Sweet

I was having one of those days where I felt like wearing something I had never worn before (or something that I hadn't worn in so long it might as well be new.) I came across this really interesting vest/shirt, I say vest because it doesn't really have sleeves and it just gave me a vest vibe, not to mention you couldn't just wear it as a shirt without a cami or bandeau underneath.

I just fell in love when I found it and can't for the life of me remember where she got it and apparently neither can she. I searched up the brand on the label which was Free People, and found their site. The clothes are to die for, so cute and unique, but their prices, oh me oh my, a little too much for my budget. (Which is where the title comes in.) My heart sunk a little, either way, the detail is obviously the most eye-catching thing about it. The textures and patterns work together nicely, because when you notice, this shirt has a little bit of everything and pulls it off!
Oh so soft!
I paired it with a grey patterned skirt since I pair everything with black and decided to mix it up. The complexity of the shirt doesn't clash with the skirt in my opinion, because the pattern on the skirt is subtle, it's in the fabric, not printed on the fabric, which I think makes a difference. I chose a metallic grey necklace to match with the skirt.

The shirt/vest is from Free People
The skirt is from American Apparel
The necklace is from Claire's
I wore a grey cami from Forever 21 underneath

(If anyone ever wonders why I have so many things from Claire's, it's because my first job was there. I got a little carried away with the discount on top of cheap prices. It was my first job, I didn't know any better, and had an unhealthy jewelry obsession. haha!)

Hope you had a good weekend :)
